The Eye of the Dove
A long-form fantasy graphic novel project I began as a world-building exercise. The Eye of the Dove is the story of a young woman named Thorn trying to save her home from certain destruction - despite having just been exiled from that home. On her long journey back, she contends with giant ancient stone monsters, land-destroying storms, morally dubious wizards, and her growing sense of despair about herself, her mission, and the future.
The whole story became much bigger than I, as a very inexperienced writer and artist, could really handle at the time, and so in 2017 I put it aside in favor of smaller projects in order to give myself some time to figure out what I was even doing. This story also echoed a lot of the worries I had at the time, about the state of the world and the sense of helplessness I had when it came to my role in it, and that actually wound up holding me back whenever I tried to make it into a complete story. I am very proud of what I did accomplish with this story, however, and I really look forward to returning to it someday.
